At the BOE work session, the following occurred:

·         An 8 minute video explaining Operation Clean Sweep was shown for the BOE members to review. This video will be seen by the High School and the Middle School. It will also be shown on EHT TV (Channel 2).

·         The BOE voted to accept the new contract for 7/1/06 though 6/30/09 with the EHT Education Association. This contract covers all teachers, secretaries, paraprofessionals, custodians, ground personnel, maintenance, attendance officers and psychologists. Here are some of the highlights:

o        5% increase for each year 1, 2, and 3, inclusive of increment.

o        All clubs, activities, athletics & other stipends will be 3.5% each year 1, 2, and 3.

o        $1,000.00 per paraprofessional in each year 1, 2, & 3, inclusive of increment.

o        Reimbursement rate for educational credits $200/course in year 1, $250 in year 2, & $300 in year 3.

o        Reimbursement pool for educational credits for educational credits, $30,000 in year 1, $40,000 in year 2 & $50,000 in year 3.

o        All employees will be paid on the 15th and 30th of each month.

o        All employees will participate in direct deposit.

·         Work on the 06/07 School Budget has been on going. The budget presentations to BOE members are open to the public and will occur on the following dates in the BOE Room at the Intermediate School:

o        February 7,9, and 21 at 7 PM

o        March 1 at 7 PM and if needed, March 2nd & 7th

o        March 8 at 7 PM will be the meeting to approve submission of budget to County Office.

o        March 28 at 8 PM - BOE Meeting to conduct public hearing and approve final budget.

 

Dr. Heery will be giving multiple budget presentations.  In prior years, these presentations have lasted 30-45

                          minutes with a question and answer session afterwards. Try to attend on of the following presentations:

                               (You do not have to be a “member” or have a student in the school to attend a meeting)

o        3/28 at 8 PM - BOE Meeting to conduct public hearing and approve final budget.

o        3/29 at 2:15 PM, Middle School Faculty & Parents Club

o        3/31 at 2 PM, Intermediate & Miller Schools Parents Clubs

o        4/4 at 10 AM, Davenport School Parents Club

o        4/5 at 7 Pm, EHT Home & School Association at the Intermediate School

o        4/6 at 10 AM, Swift School Parents Club

o        4/11 at 10 AM, Slaybaugh Parents Club

                       

            If you can’t attend a presentation, catch Dr. Heery on EHT TV starting April 1st to the 18th at 6 AM. Noon, & 6 PM.

 

Important Notice: The election for the school budget and for the 3 seats on the school board occurs on Tuesday, April 18 from 7 AM to 9 PM. Unfortunately, this is during Spring Break. IF you plan to be away or can not get to the polls for any reason, an absentee ballot may be used. These can be obtained by calling the Atlantic County Clerk’s Office (625-4011), visiting the EHT HSA web site(www.ehthsa.com), or www.Njelections.org .  Of course, in order to have your vote count, you must be a registered voter. If you are not, voter registration forms are available at the above mentioned places.
