Prior to the Work
Session of the Board of Education (BOE) meeting on May
19, 2009, a hands-on work shop was held on the new Novus
Agenda Paperless System. This system allows the district
to go “green” and saves money by eliminating the need
for a copy of each agenda for all the BOE members, which
often is between 1-2 inches thick. There will be a
parallel test for the meetings in June with the goal of
being paperless by July.
The meeting was then
opened for the Public session. BOE members voted to
approve the M.R. settlement agreement, accept the
professional services with Polistina and Associates to
create specs and assist in reviewing bids to renovate
gym floors, agreed for the crew team to attend the US
Rowing Junior Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio, and OK’d
attendance to the Nike Outdoor National Track Meet in
Greensboro, NC.
During the Public
Portion, BOE members got to view the 2 trophies won by
the Lightweight 4 and the Junior 4 crew members at the
Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia on 5/16/09.
Graduation is fast
approaching which means Project Graduation is also just
around the corner (June 23, 2009). As with every other
organization, donations are down yet costs continue to
rise
Donations of bottle
water, especially the smaller bottles, would help defray
some of Project Graduation costs. Graduating seniors and
their guests work up a sweat enjoying all the games,
activities, music and fun times being provided at the
drug and alcohol free party hosted by the HSA. Donations
can be dropped off at the High School, or arrangements
can be made to have your contributions picked up by
contacting me at
SRfromEHT@aol.com or 653-2009.
Many businesses are
willing to help Project Graduation but must be contacted
and not enough volunteers exist to make that happen.
A volunteer or two is
needed now to label and assemble the bracelets used for
identification purposes at Project Graduation.
All the ideas are in
place, materials purchased, but Project Graduation could
use more workers “bees” to paint, cut, etc.
If you can help, please
contact Mary Ann Spiker, Coordinator of Project
Graduation at
mspiker@ehthsa.com or by phoning me at the
above number.
Lastly, volunteers to
help set up, chaperone ( 2 shifts available so you don’t
have to pull an all nighter), and clean-up are also
needed. Sonya is handle this area, so if you’re free on
June 23, want to experience a magical time, and help
keep Project Graduation in existence, contact
SGROSS1168@aol.com or call me at 653-2009.
Not only is life time
memories created for the graduating senior and their
guests, but they’re kept safe on a night where too many
students have lost their lives. Please support Project
Graduation in any way you can. Thank you.
